No Assassinations or Rhetoric

I guess people are trying to find the appropriate response, which is that no one should get assassinated for political dialogue. However, it almost feels too late for that, and it all goes back to the President and his supporters, who have been preaching violence since way back when Donald Trump was suggesting that Hillary Clinton should be assassinated in 2016. So you can't fault the people who now see the connection between the rhetoric and the actions of a sick country.

Political Assassinations in Minnesota

Waking up to the news of two Minnesota politicians and their spouses, all Democrats, being shot in the middle of the night by an assassin dressed as a police officer, has me thinking that the assault on democracy is still progressing- even in light of the "no Kings" protests today. Please remain defiant, and be safe. Obviously, things are very volatile right now. For the past few weeks, I've had a steady stream of 1960s protest music playing inside my head with good reason. It is extremely sad that things have progressed to this point. Or perhaps, I should say regressed.

Removal of Police from Schools = Fail

Pay attention now those of you who thought it was a good idea to remove police liaison officers from schools...

Old Cartoons in Today's World

It's fun watching the old cartoons that I liked, with my son. But I did notice, that in the first cartoon Yosemite Sam kept getting sent to hell. In the second cartoon, a worm got drunk. There are some ideas in the old cartoons that were thought to be funny and innocent, that are now considered inappropriate today. Yet for all of the political correctness and censorship that is going on, I don't think society is behaving any better for it.

The Right Political Flaws

I see a flaw in a political position that protects the rights of the unborn, and simultaneously promotes guns while gun violence destroys the living. I find it ironic that the same political views that say they promote freedom, are simultaneously working to restrict personal choices of health and lifestyle. The reason the truth is being altered, is because the arguments simply aren't logical on their own merit.

Will Smith, Chris Rock, Gas Prices

January 6

One year ago, an attempt was made to violently overthrow the U.S. government to install a dictatorship. Whether you like the winner or not, you do get to vote. We almost lost that right last year.

The Big Lie

I wrote less comedy over the last year. The world was less funny I guess. Or maybe I was laughing less. Things that should be gone, are coming back. And I'm not just talking about COVID-19. But it should be gone. Some want to keep it. Some don't read history--about how polio was finally beaten. Racial tensions are back. It works for the people who want to dismantle the government. The war on police is working. You can tell if you pay attention to the death toll. Even ISIS is back. Toss global warming into the mix too. You see, there are anarchists and troublemakers who use that 10% of the truth, to perpetuate their 90% of lies. And people who are uncomfortable in their own skin fall for it. For the few who don't, Cancel culture is there to terrorize them into submission. I keep waiting to see if people will finally realize that they are following lies. Lies told for votes. Lies to manipulate. Lies to terrorize. Lies to disrupt. Ten percent of people will understand what ...

Liberty and Justice?

Imagine living in a world where guns are valued more than children. Where the news media only tells half the story. Where the truth is made up by whoever is loudest. Where the biggest criminals are set up as the biggest victims. Where everything is made into race whether it is or not. Where good and bad are judged by politics and not by individual circumstances. Where violence is sanctioned in entertainment and on the streets in real life. And where people are afraid to speak the truth for fear of the backlash. Then you will know what our society has become.

Hypocrisy of a Democracy

Liberal-minded Americans are going to be upset if the news media ever starts telling the truth about who is really attacking Asians. You wanted Trump out for good reason. But you still can't handle the truth. Nice little hypocrisy of a democracy.

Hypocritical Silence

It's interesting to see how many will jump on the liberal bandwagon to protest against police in support of black lives, who simultaneously remain quiet while Asian neighbors are victimized by hate. I've noticed your silence.

Only Justice for Aranda

https://abcnews.go.com/US/man-threw-year-mall-america-balcony-tells-police/story?id=62423602 For Emmanuel Aranda, who threw a 5-year-old child from the 3rd floor of the Mall of America, there is only one fitting punishment. He should suffer the same fate. Whatever problems the man has, he completely lost all my sympathy. Anyone who hurts or kills a child deserves only pain and death. This is all I will say about this, except that I pray that this child does not have permanent damage.

Two Children Shot in N. Minneapolis

http://kstp.com/news/penn-lowry-north-minneapolis-shooting/4193804/?cat=1 As the world mourns for two adults shot by police recently, there is not apt to be any protests for the children shot by "stray" bullets during a gang related shooting in North Minneapolis. These children were innocent and did nothing to deserve this! Wake up people! This needs to stop! Update: 07/15/2016 http://kstp.com/news/north-minneapolis-drive-by-shooting-toddler-killed-charges/4201633/?cat=1

Cause and Effect

adjective 1. noting a relationship between actions or events such that one or more is the result of the other or others. The shooting of Philando Castile is a tragedy. It is also a time for everyone to be careful how they react to it. Governor Mark Dayton has said this would not have happened if Castile had been white; though we still do not have all the facts of what had happened prior to the now widely viewed video taken by Castile’s girlfriend. Because of this, I believe that Mark Dayton has contributed to the public unrest. This is cause and effect. It might be a good time for all of us to think about the cause and effect of what each one of us does and says. It is possible that the officer who shot Castile was reacting to the fact that a disproportional number of gun related murders are committed by young black men. Because of this, the officer may have been more likely to distrust a young black man with a gun (even if the gun was legal). It might not be right or politically...

If You Think...

If you think that the U.S.A. has a lot of mass shootings you are right. If you think that there are a lot of shootings in the U.S.A. you are also correct. If you think that Islamic extremists are a problem in the U.S.A. you are right. If you think profiling should be allowed in the name of national security, you are probably right. If you think all Muslims are terrorists, you are wrong. Half of my family came to America from Germany before WWII . They were not Nazis. They became American very quickly when they heard that people of Japanese, German and Italian heritage were being relocated to internment camps . They stopped speaking and acting like Germans. Some of them fought the Nazis in WWII. Donald Trump's family also came from Germany. Somehow the two of us have not learned the same lessons about ancestry. On the other side of the spectrum, those who are too liberal to understand that personal freedoms will need to become secondary while we are at war against terror...
