Trump Talk

Discrimination vs Racism

Any group that advocates for one race and rejects including all races, is by definition, a racist organization. Any person who has been denied, purely on the basis of skin color has experienced racism. This is never acceptable regardless of which racial groups are represented in each situation.

A person who was denied because of how they choose to represent themselves; such as how they act, speak and dress, has experienced discrimination, but not racism.

Discrimination allows humanity to decide between one thing and another by comparison.

Average, law abiding citizens may choose to distance themselves from others who choose to use socially unacceptable language and behavior. This isn't racism.

Same as Always

Some people told him he'd better start following the rules or he would end up in jail. But those other people told him that it wasn't him, it was all the other people who needed to change. They said he hadn't done anything wrong, so he didn't need to change himself at all! So he didn't. He didn't try in school, and he didn't try to get a job. He fell in with the wrong crowd, because he didn't need to change. His problems were not his fault. It was because of other people. He would just wait for them to change. And so he continued on the same as always.

The Historical Perspective

In the year 2070, protests erupted and people were upset by controversial historical objects. Outside of the Floyd building on Lake Street, a group of protesters wanted the removal of the Floyd shrine. One side argued that it was an important historical landmark, and the other side said it was one of many falsehoods from half a century ago, that needed to go away...

Joe Biden's Running Mate

I understand that Joe Biden must pick a woman of color as his running mate for President. This is an absolutely fantastic idea; except that it doesn't go nearly far enough. There are still underrepresented groups that should be included in this process. I suggest that not only it should be a woman of color, but also be a non-Christian, GLBQT and perhaps disabled person. If we ever want to prove to the world that we do not discriminate on the basis of race, religion, sexual orientation or disability, we need to find a person with the correct demographics to run with the old, rich, liberal white guy, against the other old, unimaginably wealthy, conservative white guy.

Quick! Find Horton!

Unchecked Liberalism

Kudos to liberal Americans. You want freedom, but if someone disagrees with you, you call them a racist or uneducated. Most people are afraid of that, so I guess you win; until the truth comes out. The truth is, you can be against racism and stand for justice, and still question what you see and hear. Freedom of speech is for everyone, not just the people who agree with you. If the world was full of people who only did good and only spoke the truth, radical liberalism wouldn't be dangerous. But the world is full of liars and cheaters. So be careful when you are demanding that people believe your political ideals. Your threats and accusations might be lies too. You might be the one who is wrong.

Police Reform

With the passage of police reforms, the officers took to the streets brandishing flyswatters and squirt guns! Liberal Americans rejoiced knowing that the criminal element was out of danger. Yes, if changes are needed, it only makes sense to do it to extremes. As long as the conservatives can keep their arsenals, and the police are carefully regulated, we will all be much safer. There will be time to talk about education, parenting and curbing criminal activity later.

Why Trump is President

"And on November 3, the conservatives emerged from their burrows to see fires, looting and statues pulled down. Frightened by the lawlessness, they quickly ran back down into their bunkers and then there was 4 more years of Trump."

Gun Violence Double Standard

As encouraging as it is that people are outraged by excessive force used by police, Americans seem to have a huge amount of apathy regarding gun violence in general, and innocent children getting shot.

Life in the Middle

It was a difficult decision. The liberal people knew they were smarter than everyone else. I mean they were right... right? So of course they were... ahhh...  right!

But the conservatives were better armed! And they had God backing them. Right? They might even shoot him...

But both sides played perfectly into the plans of the anarchists. Those who wanted to bait everyone into a race war.

Well, he wasn't as righteous as the right, and he wasn't as smart as the left, but at least in the middle he knew what was right and he wasn't stupid! Sooner or later, others would find the middle too.

But no one would ever believe him that everyone needed to behave responsibly. Both thought only one side needed to change! How could he be so stubborn to think that this was deeper than that?

But he knew it was...

Stay Positive and Work Together

I appreciate those who have posted positive things. This pandemic and social unrest is traumatic and difficult for the children--who aren't born prejudiced, they learn it. Recently I read that I have to choose between social justice and public safety; meaning if I want the looting to stop I've chosen against justice. I live in the middle and so l choose both. If we all decide it is worthwhile, we can have both.

Coyote Saves Shopper

There I was waiting on my dot to checkout. In front of me was a roadrunner! He moved up to the register, so I started moving up to the next dot. Suddenly a coyote pushed me out of the way and WAMM! He got hit by an anvil! That coyote is a hero!

Letter to Trump Re: Handling Protests

Dear President Trump,

I heard your remarks about Minnesota being the "laughing stock," around the entire world. I don't share your views, though I admit that you are good for a laugh from time to time. I appreciate your comments, as I hope it helps to bring Minnesotans together in a new and positive way. Even on our worst day, we don't typically consider ourselves laughable--though many might think of you as an expert in that arena.

Sincerely,
Kevin J Cutris

It's Not Our land, Now What?

I have recently seen social media posts saying the land in America is not "ours," and it got me thinking about what this means? Whose land is it? The American Indian tribes who live in Minnesota now, did not live in this area historically (or prehistorically). They came from the east. Humanity, is thought to have originated in Africa. Civilization is thought to have originated in Mesopotamia (in Iraq). Humans seem to have a desire to move to new lands. Should those who are not Native American, give the land back? So then this is about birthright? Because I have lived here my entire life, as did my parents. If I try to go back to one of the many countries that represents my ancestry, the inhabitants will not agree that I am a native there either. And what about that small percentage of American Indian blood in my veins? Does that part get to stay? Because I cannot be parted out; all of my parts are integrated as a whole. What about my Hmong relatives? There is no Hmong homeland. Where should they go? It's easy to talk about injustices and whose birthright means that they get to own something that was decided before any of us alive now were born. It is far more difficult, to actually sort out that issue realistically. I have a spirit brother who is Ojibwe. He once told me that I am native American, because I was born here. I understand that his view is not everyone's view nor is mine. And even this dear friend who is American Indian has a French last name. Like me he has more than one lineage. It's much easier to lay claim by birth to limited resources, than to actually figure out what to do about it. Those liberal enough to support this idea, hopefully are handing over their land to the rightful owners even as I write this. I applaud their convictions—while also wondering where they will end up residing.

When someone comes up with an idea to bring us all together, I will be very much interested in hearing it. Right now I am mostly hearing ways to divide us.
