Minnesota Media Caricatures

In case anyone cares, nobody in Minnesota talks like the caricatures that are circulating. In fact, the national news anchors adopt a "Midwestern" accent for TV, regardless of where they are from. I've lived in Minnesota most of my life. The people are generally well educated. They don't live on tater-tot hotdish and say, "Yah you betcha!" But, since there is very little truth being told these days, this manufactured, completely inaccurate version of Minnesotans is being circulated by liberals and conservatives alike. It's apparently considered politically correct because it also incorrectly perpetuates the myth that only people of white European ancestry live here.

Don't be Controlled

Those who like to instigate social discord, are at work on social media (and the news media). Some of them are based in hostile foreign countries. Others, use the continuous fighting to gain power, without ever having to use logic. The continued dive into injustices of the past that none of us were originally here for, and that there are no great fixes for, seems less productive than if we focus on how we can unite and make things better in the present. If you choose to be positive and see the progress, ...

Why the Complacency Over Gun Violence?

If you look at a city like Minneapolis objectively, there are shootings daily. People are shot and shot to death at an alarming rate. That means law enforcement is reacting to these violent crimes daily. If you research the statistics, when it's not being obscured by the media, most of the victims are black lives. Most of the arrested shooters are as well. When you think of the hundreds of cases handled by the police, and the relatively few mistakes, it begins to show that the number of people killed by police, is a small number in comparison to the number being killed by gun violence every single day. Yet, the media, and certain groups have skillfully turned our attention to the few tragic deaths of individuals at the hands of police; and deflected the reality of daily killings by criminals, to back page news to be ignored because it doesn't bring the masses out to demonstrate their rage. In fact, if a child or innocent person is killed, few people mourn. It's only when ...
