Waking up to the news of two Minnesota politicians and their spouses, all Democrats, being shot in the middle of the night by an assassin dressed as a police officer, has me thinking that the assault on democracy is still progressing- even in light of the "no Kings" protests today. Please remain defiant, and be safe. Obviously, things are very volatile right now. For the past few weeks, I've had a steady stream of 1960s protest music playing inside my head with good reason. It is extremely sad that things have progressed to this point. Or perhaps, I should say regressed.

His supporters attack the U.S. Capitol, and he pardons them. People protest his policies and he sends U.S. Marines to stop them. This is a dictator. Stop pretending this is for the good of the people.

When the big beautiful idiot, finally steps on his dick, and when his supporters finally figure out they've fallen for the biggest scam in American history, I want all of his enablers deported to a shit hole country.

The "race war," was created to distract us, while we are being robbed by the rich. Since politians decide who gets what, they can do it legally. We all know reform is needed. But what and how it is being done, and who is benefitting, is not improving, it's becoming a fascist state, with an oligarchy that is fueled by racial hatred (backlash) from a liberal refusal to make certain people accountable for their actions. Meanwhile, we fight each other while our money and freedom is being seized. No amount of lying is too much, because the truth has been buried in the middle.

How handing out million dollar checks to buy an election is legal, I cannot understand. But some people don't have a soul, and no matter how much money they have, they cannot buy one. If there are still people who don't think that billionaires are buying the government for their own purposes, think hard about this one election for a judge seat in the state of Wisconsin. The one thing I do understand, is that enough good people had the decency to say no to this hostile takeover.

What we have now under Trump in the USA, is that sick racist sexist crap that has been whispered forever and I can remember hearing it occasionally throughout my childhood. As an adult, I thought it was mostly gone, but it exists in especially rural areas. Those places where diversity does not really exist, seem to foster the most resentment against people who are different. That crap has spewed up and become normal now. It's shameful. While I'm the first to admit that liberalism got out of hand a few years ago, what's happening now is wrong, it's shameful and it really sucks. But there are still a lot of people who still think this is good. Their resentment has clouded the reality of the entirety of America being swallowed up by the rich and unscrupulous. Before you fall for Trump's Victory lap for his tariffs on Mexico, you should know that the actual reason that the tariffs are suspended, is Mexico demanded the flow of U.S. guns stop crossing the border into Mexico. Now, out of the Trump playbook, he will brag and tell those who still believe his lies, that he won the trade war. In actual fact, his 125-year-old plan failed.

Recently, when I was editing my book "Covid Time," for the last time before publishing, I couldn't help but notice all of the crazy things that we as a people have been through--especially since the pandemic. So I was kind of lost in thought, when a co-worker was talking about having covid during a virtual meeting. I offhandedly said "at least it's not killing people the way it was originally--I think due to the vaccine." The supervisor, who referred to COVID-19 as "The Big C," (which is a reference to cancer in my world) expertly moved away from the issue, and I couldn't help but think I had made a stupid political faux pas. Lost in thought about everything we've been through, and all the people we have lost, and all of the stupid political decisions that had been made on both sides, it slipped my mind how politically charged the whole idea of vaccination has become.      Fascism arrived in town draped in the nation’s flag and holding a Bible. He smiled at the people and talked about how tough things were becoming. He said he wanted to help. The smile quickly turned to a frown. He pointed accusingly at the immigrants and tapped the suspicions of the population.      “Those people come here from their shit-hole countries and try to take what is ours!” he said.    Some of the town’s people looked approvingly at Fascism. Afterall, he was carrying a Bible! And he was wearing a flag! While I’m not at all in agreement with how the Democrats have fueled a race war and advocated for “dumbing down” society to accommodate those unwilling to try hard—as well as supporting groups that use “white bashing” as a supposed form of diversity, I cannot under any circumstances, accept the militant, fantasy-driven Fascism that the Republican party now represents. Because we have only two viable parties in the USA, I have to choose from the lesser of two evils. We have all been witness to how an authoritarian regime can destroy a country; as we watch Russia spiral in for a crash landing. The similarities to other fascist regimes as well as leaders who have no ability to tell or comprehend the truth, have placed democracy in a perilous position. Vote carefully, as this election is likely about something much bigger than your personal preferences. Our entire way of governing and choosing leaders is at stake. I was reading some speculation that if the abortion rights gets overturned, that we should be ready for other things like interracial marriage (and gay marriage) to potentially follow suit. So if interracial marriage rights were repealed, would that mean that me and my wife are not married anymore? It seems a bit unlikely; but so did the Capitol insurrection--until it happened... It might be, that there are more important issues to consider in the upcoming elections than just making sure that you can fill your house with guns and walk around with one hanging under your armpit.
