US Federal ICE Agents in Minnesota

ICE agents are in the Twin Cities, singling out entire ethnic groups, trying to shore-up Trump's declining popularity. Racism is still his main source of power with his supporters. While navigating the cognitive dissonance, ask yourself why the President who is bombing alleged drug traffickers in the Caribbean, has pardoned former Honduras President Juan Orlando Hernández, sentenced last year to 45 years in prison for his role in a drug trafficking operation that moved hundreds of tons of cocaine into the United States of America.

School Resource Officers and Narrow Views

This morning, on the news, they reported a need for school resource officers. That struck me as interesting, because a few years ago, there was anger, and people wanted those officers removed from schools. This is proof that dumb exists on both the political left and the political right. A few years ago, George Floyd was in the news and now it's the Annunciation school shooting. Narrow views produce narrow results.

Who is a Loser Mayor Frey?

The mayor of Minneapolis made a joke the other day about those of us working from home turning into "losers." For the life of me, I am not seeing anything except "win" about my situation of working from home! I don't have to pay parking to work downtown, I don't have to pay extra money for gasoline, which is not only good for my bank account, but it's good for the environment too. I also have more time for my family, more personal time, and that lack of sitting in traffic means my stress level is not as high. If all of these things make me a loser, then so be it! I'm very happy.

Focus on the Causes of Gun Violence

A lot of time and effort is going into reforming police. Today, a school bus driver was shot in the head in Minneapolis. Perhaps more time and effort should be spent on the reason police are out pursuing criminals--like why are people shooting each other and also killing and maiming innocent bystanders in the city and streets? Police reform is a byproduct... an effort to fix a symptom of the true problem. It's easy to yell and scream about police brutality, but that doesn't address the crime that necessitates the reason police are deployed in the first place. If you can fix the crime problem, the police won't even be needed. It was a while ago, but when I grew up in Richfield, and bought my first house in Minneapolis (both have had shootings already this month), there wasn't continuous shootings like there is now. So ask yourself, what has changed? If we focus on the cause of the dysfunction rather than reacting to the results, perhaps real solutions are possible. Be...

USA, Land of Misdirection

Looking past cancel culture, at the liberal ideas of blaming every social issue on systemic racism, vilifying law enforcement and making heroes of criminals and ignoring the demographics of who is actually shooting the most people--including innocent children, I don't feel that any of this is working or has any hope of success. In fact, the only thing it will likely do, is increase the power of conservatives, who are waging their own battle of distorted reality. I'm still convinced that the answers to the problems are in that gray area in the middle; rather than in the black and white or right and left. But people are too stubborn to think rationally or logically. So here "we" all are--angry, misinformed, misinterpreted and misdirected.

More Backlash in Minneapolis

Kudos to the Minneapolis city council. After putting up with riots, businesses unhappy with the idea to defund Minneapolis Police are planning to leave downtown. I can't say that I blame them much. All the pressure on police conduct has not reduced crime. And so, this is why I can't follow the left all the way to the left. Once you get too far to the right or the left, you enter the territory of stupid. Any gains made, are soon ruined by not knowing when to stop.

The Historical Perspective

In the year 2070, protests erupted and people were upset by controversial historical objects. Outside of the Floyd building on Lake Street, a group of protesters wanted the removal of the Floyd shrine. One side argued that it was an important historical landmark, and the other side said it was one of many falsehoods from half a century ago, that needed to go away...

Letter to Trump Re: Handling Protests

Dear President Trump, I heard your remarks about Minnesota being the "laughing stock," around the entire world. I don't share your views, though I admit that you are good for a laugh from time to time. I appreciate your comments, as I hope it helps to bring Minnesotans together in a new and positive way. Even on our worst day, we don't typically consider ourselves laughable--though many might think of you as an expert in that arena. Sincerely, Kevin J Cutris
