There are only 3 reasons left to support Trump. 1. You are obscenely rich. 2. You are racist. 3. You are dumb. Either you are profiting at the expense of others, or you can't get over your own prejudices, or you are too stupid to admit your country is being destroyed by a fascist dictator. It's always interesting to listen to the spin put on to stupid and illegal actions by our government, under the most corrupt, dumb, and brown-nosing administration in American history. This morning, I listened as Marco Rubio avoided answering the questions from George Stephanopoulos, repeatedly. And he spilled their hand by what was said between the lines, when he told George that Venezuela needs private oil companies to go in and administer the oil for the people of Venezuela so that it is not solely for the benefit of a few rich individuals. That is exactly what this Trump, Venezuelan, illegal action is about. Pretty much, everyone knows that Nicolas Maduro is a crook and a heartless authoritarian, much like what we have in the White House in the USA. But it was never about drugs, as we should know when Trump pardoned the former President of Honduras, after he was convicted of drug dealing on a huge scale. How does he do it? The math makes no sense, the words contain no truth, or even logic, and yet he still has a(n albeit shrinking), legion of followers. In my dream I'm packing. It's reminiscent of my time in Boy Scouts packing for camping trips. Only I'm packing for war. I think it's Vietnam. That was the war when I was a little kid. That was what I thought was going to happen when I grew up. It's funny, we don't think about it that much anymore, but Vietnam changed our lives as sure as covid-19. Even my immediate family was indirectly created by that war. My wife's family fled from Laos when she was a small child. Many years later, we met and got married and had our son. But why do I still dream of that fate that never transpired? Why do I still dream about going to war? I suppose it could be that there is a war in the news all the time. Plus, there is a war in our streets as mass shootings have outnumbered the days of the year. There is a war in our government, in our politics, and an attempt to take over our democracy. There are the continued excuses about guns not killing people, that people are killing...

While I was watching the news, My son (5th grade) asked me if we were heading for World War III. I can remember growing up, thinking that I was going to end up drafted and in a war (Vietnam was in the news at that time). I asked him what he knew about WWI and WWII. Then I decided he needed a crash course (of history). I found the answer on YouTube.com. These are both informative and entertaining. He has since watched several others in the series. Sometimes when I'm sitting on my patio grilling dinner and having a beer, I can almost forget that the United States Supreme Court does not represent My Views. I can almost forget the two party system is broken. I can almost forget that there is a war across the world that could turn into world war three. I can almost forget that we aren't still in a pandemic even though everyone seems to act like it's over. I can almost forget that the United States almost became another authoritarian dictatorship. Of course, my observations about how much more things are costing me, are much ado about nothing when you consider that Ukrainian civilians have been tortured and shot with their hands tied behind their backs by invading Russian soldiers.
