I sure hope, although I have doubts, that once we get past this Trump dictatorship, that the liberal left will try to be more truthful than they have been in the past. I understand the goal of equality, however, if that means lying and not holding some people accountable, then we are doomed to swing rapidly back-and-forth. What we need is some truth, some middle ground, and equality for everyone--without the cancel culture, and the vengeance, that has become mainstream in politics on both sides of the aisle. It's nice to see that more people are realizing that Trump is only doing this for himself, and it's destroying our democracy. But still, there are an awful lot of people who are continuing to drink the Trump kool-aid, because their hatred of people from certain demographic groups is so strong that they believe the lies about them destroying our country and getting everything for free while we pay for it through tax dollars. Just because there is no one within the Trump organization who will speak out against the idiotic policies, interviews and posts that the President participates in daily, it does not mean that this inbred and completely backward intellectualism is immune to repercussions at some point. As the Timothy Treadwell story has demonstrated to us, getting away with doing really stupid things over and over might mean that you are lucky, but it doesn't mean that you are immune. Under the Uniform Code of Military Justice (UCMJ) and longstanding legal precedent, service members have a duty to disobey orders that are clearly unlawful. This principle is rooted in the military oath of enlistment, which binds personnel to support and defend the U.S. Constitution, not any individual leader. The most fascinating thing about the January 6 Hearings, is not the bullying and deceit. Most reasonable people already knew that was happening. The true revelation is that the USA was well on its way to having an authoritarian dictator who would break laws and abuse trust to stay in power. This is also how Putin and others have remained in power. But the truly heartbreaking fact is, that regardless of the truth coming out, there are still legions of followers who will willingly follow Trump to hell. This should scare anyone, regardless of your opinions on issues or whether you tend to be liberal or conservative. Living under an authoritarian ruler is not something anyone should want.
