The family road trip was in jeopardy when my car's tire pressure light went on during pouring rain. When I checked, only one tire was low and upon further examination, I could see the nail head in the tread. The 2 tire repair shops in Preston Minnesota, where I was at the time were both too busy to be bothered with fixing a tire. I drove on to Harmony, Minnesota where I was able to get it repaired at Harmony Repair Services. Even though the inside of the garage was completely filled with vehicles, the owner/mechanic had me pull up to the door and he fixed the tire in about 15 minutes.
When I went to pick up my son from his friend's house last evening, a deer was suddenly laying on the road in front of my car. It had just been hit by one of the cars ahead of me, and there wasn't much I could do, so I went right over the top of it, and waited for the thump. The car went over, and I didn't hear anything. Apparently, the car was high enough, and the deer was laying on its side, in convulsions, and nothing happened. But it sure was freaky!
Today it rained, but we went to, (San Francisco) Palace of Fine Art, Waymo, Union Square and Chinatown. The Palace was amazing, but so is riding in a self-driving car!

We never intended on getting our third grade son his own phone, until our wireless carrier offered us a free line. We don't have a landline, and the phone has become pretty useful especially during the pandemic. Often it is safer to leave him home for a few minutes than to take him out for a quick trip to the store. He's been able to keep in touch with his grandparents and friends. So there's been a lot of good that's come of it. We typically don't let him take the phone to school or keep it in his room at night. But today, there was definitely a problem. While he was away at school two phonecalls came through on his phone. Both were the same issue. Apparently the warranty on my son's car, may have expired...
Be prepared for the worst, in case your car gets stuck! Always carry a small saw to cut the ice sickles that could be holding your car frozen to the ground!
The new car was unfamiliar to him. And now, it was talking! It kept chiming and repeating, "The door is ajar , the door is ajar, the door is ajar..." He looked at the car door. It was not a jar . There was nothing about the car door that even remotely resembled a jar. It did not look like a glass jar, it was not a cylinder. Yet the car kept repeating, "The door is ajar, the door is ajar, the door is ajar..." He was starting to become annoyed. He wasn't sure what to do. If he tried to drive it now, it would instead, drive him crazy. The car kept chiming and saying, "The door is ajar, the door is ajar, the door is ajar..." Finally, he disgustedly slammed the car door shut in frustration. And all at once, the car stopped talking...
With all the snow we've had recently and the warmer daytime temperatures there has been a lot of melting going on. Just this morning, in the dark, when the temperatures were back below freezing, I was on dry roads until I reached the highway ramp and found that it was covered in ice! My car started sliding sideways because of the angle of the ramp and it was quite an unnerving feeling because of the speed in which one is going in order to merge into the traffic on the highway. Thankfully the sliding was only perhaps for a second before my tires slid onto dry pavement again. Had traffic been heavier or if I had been driving faster, things might have been much worse.
I've got a really low voice. I like to drive cars fast. I make people wait for me because I don't like to get to work on time. I don't care if the rock thinks I'm a candy-ass. I have a lot of hit movies about driving cars fast.
"Hey I have an idea! Let's put an extra button on the key that can be easily bumped to set-off the horn and flash the lights! We can make it so it only takes a single push to activate it—and you will have to press it a second time to stop it!"
The Cruise Control on my Ford Fusion has from time to time, stopped working or more accurately, stopped working correctly and consistently. It occurred to me that the inconsistency (rather than complete stoppage) could be due to dust/dirt in the controls that are located on the steering wheel. I used a vacuum cleaner and cleaned the area around the control buttons and the cruise control resumed working correctly. Years later, (recently) during a road trip, the cruise control began to act up again. I repeated the process with the same results. As I have noticed with electronics, etc., dirt and dust can cause malfunctions and cleaning is often all that needs to be done to return normal function.
