How We (USA) Got Here...

The "race war," was created to distract us, while we are being robbed by the rich. Since politians decide who gets what, they can do it legally. We all know reform is needed. But what and how it is being done, and who is benefitting, is not improving, it's becoming a fascist state, with an oligarchy that is fueled by racial hatred (backlash) from a liberal refusal to make certain people accountable for their actions. Meanwhile, we fight each other while our money and freedom is being seized. No amount of lying is too much, because the truth has been buried in the middle.

Navigating a Foreign Culture

Having married into another culture, I have frequently been asked to respect the traditions, even if they go against logic and reasonable, modern thinking. So, being my own individual, I go along and help out as much as seems reasonable to myself. And then, I excuse myself when I must--even if I am accused of being impolite for not following. But I am not a follower. I make my own decisions based on everything that I know and believe.

Removal of Police from Schools = Fail

Pay attention now those of you who thought it was a good idea to remove police liaison officers from schools...

The Dumbing Down of Society and Political Dysfunction

When the battle of often misdirected political correctness, meets fearmongering, the results aren't pretty. One side incites racial and political unrest, and the other points at crime and says we need more guns to protect ourselves. The division keeps on widening. People aren't interested in creative solutions to fix problems. They are interested in being right. They don't want to discuss issues and compromise; they want it their way. They don't want others to succeed, they want to prevent the opposition from gaining power. Society has spoken, and politics has answered. And now, we're stuck, and nobody wants to see the middle ground. United States politics is interesting in so many ways. It's also quite dysfunctional. Being I'm a political moderate, people often become upset with me. I've come to the conclusion that oftentimes they do not know how else to react. Even if I dislike the same party that they dislike, the fact that I don't like the part...

Christian Apocrypha and Gender Roles

I must admit to being fascinated by Christian Apocryphal writings. They often ring true to me. What is it that those who rejected these texts found so unnerving? As I was immersed in the traditions of a male dominated culture a lot this past year, I can imagine that sentiments such as these could be difficult for those who believe one gender should be subservient. -KJC From “The Life of Saint Issa,” Chapter XII, Verses 8-21 8 At this juncture, an old woman who had approached the group, the better to hear Issa, was pushed aside by one of the spies, who placed himself before her. 9 Then Issa held forth: "It is not meet that a son should set aside his mother, taking her place. Whosoever respecteth not his mother, the most sacred being after his God, is unworthy of the name of son. 10 "Listen, then, to what I say unto you: Respect woman, for she is the mother of the universe, and all the truth of divine creation lies in her. 11 "She is the basis of all that is good an...

Presidential Worst-Case Scenario

By Kevin J. Curtis I think unless you have your head in the sand, you will probably agree that the worst thing that could happen to the USA in the next Presidential election, is that Trump and Biden would run against each other again. I’ll be honest, I think Donald Trump is the worst thing to ever happen to American politics. He lies constantly. He does not even seem to know what truth is. His motivations are self-serving; and his ideas are either politically incorrect, or they just don’t make any sense scientifically or logically. Plus, Trump tried to steal the Presidential election—and started casting doubt on the election process for years (before), in order to be ready in case he lost. Which he did. His followers don’t seem to care, nor do they realize that Trump could never reciprocate the same kind of loyalty he demands from his allies. But even though Trump didn’t win, and I was glad about that, we ended up with Joe Biden. Joe is bent on idiotic policies that are going to m...

CuTRis Beats Self for Mentioning Breakfast Burritos

CuTRis Beats Self for Mentioning Breakfast Burritos UnAssociated Press July 12, 2022 After learning that Jill Biden was accused of being insensitive for comparing Latinos to Breakfast Tacos, CuTRis beat the crap out of himself, because he admitted to talking about making Breakfast Burritos earlier that day. CuTRis went on to say, that he did not realize that talking about breakfast food that was often attributed to certain ethnic groups was so insensitive. From his hospital bed, CuTRis vowed to try to be more politically correct in the future.

Old Cartoons in Today's World

It's fun watching the old cartoons that I liked, with my son. But I did notice, that in the first cartoon Yosemite Sam kept getting sent to hell. In the second cartoon, a worm got drunk. There are some ideas in the old cartoons that were thought to be funny and innocent, that are now considered inappropriate today. Yet for all of the political correctness and censorship that is going on, I don't think society is behaving any better for it.

Focus on the Causes of Gun Violence

A lot of time and effort is going into reforming police. Today, a school bus driver was shot in the head in Minneapolis. Perhaps more time and effort should be spent on the reason police are out pursuing criminals--like why are people shooting each other and also killing and maiming innocent bystanders in the city and streets? Police reform is a byproduct... an effort to fix a symptom of the true problem. It's easy to yell and scream about police brutality, but that doesn't address the crime that necessitates the reason police are deployed in the first place. If you can fix the crime problem, the police won't even be needed. It was a while ago, but when I grew up in Richfield, and bought my first house in Minneapolis (both have had shootings already this month), there wasn't continuous shootings like there is now. So ask yourself, what has changed? If we focus on the cause of the dysfunction rather than reacting to the results, perhaps real solutions are possible. Be...

Hypocrisy of a Democracy

Liberal-minded Americans are going to be upset if the news media ever starts telling the truth about who is really attacking Asians. You wanted Trump out for good reason. But you still can't handle the truth. Nice little hypocrisy of a democracy.

Social Hypocrisy

People should understand, that past inequities cannot negate certain demographics from following laws and rules. And those advocating such doctrines are doing no one any favors. On the opposite end, those with lots of money and privilege, are not better than anyone else. Your money and status does not make it right for you to behave badly. Diversity is not just black and white. It's economic, and it's popularity and religious affiliation and so much more. And finally, if we're so concerned about justice, equality and diversity, why is there so little outrage or publicity about the horrific and continued attacks and violence against Asian Americans? We've replaced the previous instigator-in-chief, but the attacks continue. Often perpetrated by people who would protest loudly if such injustices were directed at them. Why is our society so tolerant of attacks on some but not others? Why the hypocrisy?

Politics and Football

The Buffalo Bills chose to stay in the locker room during the National anthem at last evening's AFC Championship game. However, when the Kansas City Chiefs fans started that stupid Hollywood Indian chant, accompanied by the arm movement simulating a tomahawk, no one protested. Perhaps I expect too much from men who make millions of dollars to play a ballgame, but it seems hypocritical. Can I cook up a solution you ask? Positively! The Kansas City CHEFS !

How Will History See Us?

By Kevin J. Curtis I'm wondering how history will treat those of us who were adults living through 2020. When so many people have been so critical of how other people acted in past history, how will we be judged 100 years from now? Will those of us who were careful during the pandemic, to wear masks and follow safety guidelines be considered correct; or will it be those who are demanding to reopen businesses and sports and allow nature to run its course? Will those who question every decision and action made by police be the ones history sees as right? Or, will it be those who believe that everyone has a role in responsibility not just some? Will the people who want to advocate for business be the ones history finds correct? Or, will it be the people who are concerned about climate change and our natural ecosystem? Will the people who believe in democracy prevail; or will history see the 2020 presidential election as being a fraud and stolen from the rightful winner as some peopl...

No Compromise

No Compromise By Kevin J. Curtis Johnny was trying to understand why the people in the United States were always arguing and fighting. It didn’t make sense! They were all just people living in the same big country. Why did they fight all of the time? He decided to talk to his dad about it. “It’s because somebody is always trying to take our guns away!” shouted Donald, as he finished loading the clip of his 9mm Glock. “But if nobody had guns,” began Johnny, “we wouldn’t need to have lockdown drills in our school for active shooters!” “You watch your mouth young man!” shouted Donald. “That kind of talk is dangerous! We need to be able to defend ourselves if someone else pulls a gun on us!” “But yesterday,” began Johnny, “you pulled a gun on that other car in traffic while driving us home. Nobody pulled a gun on you first.” “You shut your yap young man,” growled Johnny’s father. “That guy was looking for a slug in his head!” Johnny decided to ask his mom for h...

Hypocrisy in the USA

If 100 children get shot, killed or maimed, Americans don't notice. The U.S. media spends little to no time reporting it. Yet if there is a rumor that a black man was killed by a police officer, rioting begins immediately. The hypocrisy is astounding.

All Lives Should Matter

Saying "All Lives Matter," is not racist. It includes everyone. It does not exclude anyone. If you disagree, that is your right. However, advocating for only one race, is by definition, racist. If you still disagree, test this by replacing the word, black with white. Do you still think it sounds okay? Unless we can accept that all lives matter, we cannot achieve racial harmony. Forcing racial equity through exclusion, is divisive. Bottomline is that you can have BLM, but stop attacking people who say that all lives matter.
