Truth in Politics

I sure hope, although I have doubts, that once we get past this Trump dictatorship, that the liberal left will try to be more truthful than they have been in the past. I understand the goal of equality, however, if that means lying and not holding some people accountable, then we are doomed to swing rapidly back-and-forth. What we need is some truth, some middle ground, and equality for everyone--without the cancel culture, and the vengeance, that has become mainstream in politics on both sides of the aisle. It's nice to see that more people are realizing that Trump is only doing this for himself, and it's destroying our democracy. But still, there are an awful lot of people who are continuing to drink the Trump kool-aid, because their hatred of people from certain demographic groups is so strong that they believe the lies about them destroying our country and getting everything for free while we pay for it through tax dollars. Of course, this is false, and the only ones who are taking our money, are the billionaires who are controlling politics and business. The reality is, we need a moderate political party, and we only have the two that are controlled by the extremes.

SPRUCE Project

We were lucky enough to be given a tour of the SPRUCE Project in the Chippewa National Forest, North of Grand Rapids, Minnesota. Our tour guide was W. Robert Nettles IV, SPRUCE Project Operations Manager at Oak Ridge National Laboratory . I went into the site fueled primarily by my lifetime of interest in the natural environment; as well as my interest from volunteering as a park ranger in the Minnesota Valley National Wildlife Refuge. However, by the time I was done, my interest in technology, from over 10 years as an IT professional, was thoroughly peaked! Definitely off the "beaten path," in a spruce bog in Northern Minnesota, this site boasts an incredible array of scientific equipment that is supported by an amazing technological infrastructure! There are control sites and some of the chambers have added heat, carbon dioxide, or both. A lot of equipment and experimental testing goes on 24/7, 365 days per year. These guys know their stuff.
