A Broad-winged hawk was chasing a crow and temporarily landed 10 feet from me while I was in the garden. I had heard the crow "rattling," for quite a while before that. It's always interesting what I might encounter in my own yard. Was it purely an accident, or was the high intellect of the crow engaged in trying to bring the pursuing hawk close to the human, to throw it off the chase?
