TV History for "Youngsters"

Back in the day, television shows didn't run nonstop like they do now. We also only had one or two or maybe three channels (stations) to choose from. Originally everything was in black & white; and long after color television I still had a black & white TV. Late night they would stop broadcasting and usually a Test Pattern and tone were all there was—or maybe just TV Snow Static.

We had two channels and one was Canadian. When you shut the black and white tv off the screen 'collapsed' to a little white point which then faded away.

When I was really young, we had a round screen b&w TV in the basement. And yes, I remember the way they turned off as you described. I also remember that I could hear a high frequency sound coming from everyone's house on summer evenings--because the vacuum tubes produced that sound. Remember the tube testers in front of the stores?

I don't remember the tube testers. I do remember an amplifier that used tubes- it would heat up the room.

I still have one of those amplifiers! It was built in 1965 and sounds better than solid state! The tubes now come from Eastern Europe.

Trump Peace Talks...

Hey, "war hero," how are those peace talks going?

Anti-Hypocrisy Not Anti-Prayer

Saying that "prayer is not enough," when children get shot at school, is NOT being, "anti-prayer." It IS being "anti-do-nothing," like those who value living children less than they value guns (or unborn children). It's time to call-out the hypocrisy.
