If you've seen my insect photography, this might strike you as funny. This thing came in with me from outside without me knowing until it stung me. It hurt pretty bad and I smacked it quickly! I don't think it had time to get much venom in me. I have the tiniest bump; but my leg tingled for a few minutes after.

During my father-in-law's recent funeral, I watched as my wife handed a $1,500 donation to the "important men." We were thanked, as this was a donation equivalent to giving a cow--and this was a Hmong funeral where several cows are used to both feed the crowd at the 3-day event; as well as payment for those helping. Monetary donations are supposed to be recorded in a ledger, because sometimes money "disappears." Our donation was never recorded, and the money is unaccounted for. Some members of the family have told us not to say anything, so not to "start trouble." It's all about "saving face." However, none of them are worried about us saving face--as it appears we did not contribute to the very expensive, complicated and long funeral. So I guess I should just keep quiet...

We can't undo the past. We can't even fully understand it; because it will always be out of context. We can, however, change the future. So far, dwelling on the past is jeopardizing any chance of positive change. We should remember the history, but not become stuck there. The future has infinite possibilities.

CuTRis Beats Self for Mentioning Breakfast Burritos UnAssociated Press July 12, 2022 After learning that Jill Biden was accused of being insensitive for comparing Latinos to Breakfast Tacos, CuTRis beat the crap out of himself, because he admitted to talking about making Breakfast Burritos earlier that day. CuTRis went on to say, that he did not realize that talking about breakfast food that was often attributed to certain ethnic groups was so insensitive. From his hospital bed, CuTRis vowed to try to be more politically correct in the future.

For 4 days and 2 nights we've been attending, working at, and mourning at my father-in-law's funeral. We are all exhausted. The process exposed the best and the worst simultaneously. Have a good journey, Tong Xay Lee.

My son wiped out on his bike today. He screamed when I cleaned the wound. I told him I didn't know what hydrogen peroxide was at his age. We just had isopropyl alcohol. My story didn't impress him much. Kind of like when I was his age, being (mostly) quiet while enduring the "flaming" liquid that would make me better--while thinking about how maggots were once used to clean wounds. Oh, those were the days! Am I right?

COVID-19 cases are currently very high and the variants are extremely contagious. People are getting less sick; mostly due to the vaccine. But despite how most people are behaving, this is NOT over.

I think a lot of people are suffering from depression. The world seems to be on fire. On top of the pandemic, the war, the attempt to takeover the country, daily shootings, racial tensions, inflation... I went through a layoff and both of my wife's parents recently died within 2-1/2 weeks.
