8 years ago, my wife accompanied her parents and sister to an event in the family in Milwaukee. our son was still pretty little, and I stayed home with him. On their trip back, my father and mother-in-law stopped at a Build-A-Bear Factory so they could get all the little kids in the family a stuffed animal. Grayson's grandfather made his rabbit that he named Peter. Peter is a pretty important dude, and for his 8th birthday party, like every year, everyone showed up! There was a dinner, a carrot cake with candles, presents, a good time was had by all! Most incredible, and I think my wife had something to do with this, because it was the wish of my mother-in-law that the tradition continues, but my in-laws still were able to give Peter Rabbit a generous monetary birthday gift even though both of them passed away in 2022. I've learned throughout my life that people often do exactly the wrong thing to try to get what they want the most.

In my dream I'm packing. It's reminiscent of my time in Boy Scouts packing for camping trips. Only I'm packing for war. I think it's Vietnam. That was the war when I was a little kid. That was what I thought was going to happen when I grew up. It's funny, we don't think about it that much anymore, but Vietnam changed our lives as sure as covid-19. Even my immediate family was indirectly created by that war. My wife's family fled from Laos when she was a small child. Many years later, we met and got married and had our son. But why do I still dream of that fate that never transpired? Why do I still dream about going to war? I suppose it could be that there is a war in the news all the time. Plus, there is a war in our streets as mass shootings have outnumbered the days of the year. There is a war in our government, in our politics, and an attempt to take over our democracy. There are the continued excuses about guns not killing people, that people are killing...

Just sit right back and you'll hear a tale. A tale of a Target trip. That started when my wife told me of a few things she must get. Her mate was a logical business man. She got distracted that's for sure She walked inside that Target store for a 3-hour tour. A 3-hour tour. The choices started getting tough. The plastic card got tossed If not for the courage of the store cashier the sales would be lost, the sales would be lost. Her car came home with a lot of stuff. Some of it was good, with flowers and clothes and assorted things, are here from Target's aisles!

I have noticed a trend on social media, where an old picture is shown, and then there is a really cool story. But often, I question if that story is real. Also often, I can't find any other documentation from legitimate sources. Yet the comments are filled with messages from people who obviously believe this stuff. Social media may be cool in many ways, but it also seems to make people stupid.
