I sent this (see below) to Trader Joe's online feedback on the website exactly two months ago today—where they claim that they are eager to hear comments. I’m thinking two months later—with a reminder at one month—that really isn’t the case. I like the store most of the time, but I don’t believe that they really care what I think. Walking through produce (Store 727) today I noticed some nice Bartlett pears in 2# bags. The sign on the bin said Bartlett Pears 2# $2.49. When I got to the register they were $3.49. I was overcharged! I brought it to the cashier's attention and she rang a bell and a guy went to look. He didn't find the sign (lots of stuff not priced) and went to another register to get the price of $3.49. The cashier (Liz) removed the item from my bill and I paid (Invoice 3404) and put my groceries in the car. I've been trying to liquidate an HSA account from a previous employer. Every time I pay for something health related, I have to go back later and prove it. Even if the charge is to a clinic I have to go back and get documentation to prove I didn't buy beer. Today I will go back to the Ford dealer to get replacement parts for my replacement parts. My first replacement parts have already failed. Fortunately it is for something I can install myself. It would have been nice though, if the parts were good the first time. I hold little hope the new parts will last. Best Western (hotel) has also charged my credit card (that they require for "incidentals") for the room that my company put on the company credit card for the conference I worked at recently. Now I have to try to get them to do it the way they were supposed to do it in the first place. A person from Jet-Black came to give me a driveway estimate last summer. He neglected to address the real issue and wanted to put a coating over the top. That would be like fixing a broken leg with a band-aid . He also said the company was too busy to actually fix my driveway. Now he is back; leaving me emails and sending letters in the mail. Here is my response to his email. Your company came out and gave me an estimate to "paint" my driveway. I needed to address an area that was sinking near the front of my garage. I have since had a full driveway replacement from another company that chose to address the actual problem. You may now stop sending me estimates as I am no longer interested in doing business with your company.

Recently at a work related conference, I was given a Green Delicious apple with my lunch. Like the Red Delicious (variety of) apples, I've noticed the creators of this variety of fruit were savvy enough to put the color before the word "delicious," so as not to confuse it with a delicious green apple. I always think of these as "school apples;" since this is the kind most often served by educational institutions—due to the cheapness of price in comparison to better tasting apples. One interesting note is that schools do not allow students to possess knives of any kind, yet to eat one of these apples without peeling it is like eating an extra layer of cardboard around your fruit—since the peelings are rather "tough." As an adult, I had access to a knife so I peeled mine—only to find that indeed, it was more "green," than it was "delicious."

There is some political fighting going on now regarding Minnesota's (alleged) 1.9 Billion dollar surplus . So I thought I would give my opinion. 1. Don't spend it stupidly by sending everyone a (small) check to give it back like when Jesse Ventura was governor. 2. Give money back to the schools that was taken when there was a budget shortage not so long ago. 3. Save some of the money to use NEXT TIME there is a budget shortage. 4. Why are my taxes so high if we have extra money? 5. How about fixing some of the bad roads and bridges? 6. The environment is always a good place to put extra money.

I think it should be clear to everyone in the world after ISIS burned a Jordanian pilot to death in a cage , that ISIS, is not about Islam . It is not about religion at all. It is about terrorism . Yesterday as I watched a news feed about Black Lives Matter marching in honor of Martin Luther King Jr. Day , I wondered if Dr. King would approve of them blocking the light rail system ? I also found it ironic that since the police were the focus of their protest, that the police were keeping the protesters off of Interstate 94—which had they gotten on the freeway (like they have before ), could have resulted in a lethal and tragic situation. Then I formed a question in my mind. Do black lives really matter to this group? What I mean is, I could show numerous black on black deadly violence incidents that have occurred—yet the only ones that seem to matter to Black Lives Matter are the proportionally smaller number that have occurred when police have used deadly force. Your bank might be lying to you. My bank (TCF) was lying to me for years! I have two accounts. One is a checking account and used for paying for things. The other is a savings account used for saving money. For years, numerous bank employees have told me the "best" place for my savings was in a checking account —even though I was not using the checking features. Recently, precipitated by a letter that told of impending reductions in services—unless I paid additional fee s, I found one woman from TCF (customer service via phone) who told me different. Start with temperatures that are subzero. Then add a small coating of snow. The road chemicals don't work (because of the excessive cold) and then you combine the recipe with the exhaust from hundreds of vehicles. What do you get? You get black ice ! Now I don't like discriminating between white ice or black ice. It's all just ice right? Ice is slippery and cars slide on it. But we must remember that Black Ice Matters! The holidays were (mostly) happy. I did very little online, though I was able to do a little writing and editing. I’m hoping to release a new novel soon and I also have a parody/comedy I just started that’s in the works. Over the last couple of weeks we celebrated my son’s birthday and Christmas and my mother and father in-law’s birthdays. We attended “Winter Fun Day” at the wildlife refuge and we painted our upstairs bathroom. Oh there was more, there was much more—but I just hit the highlights. There was also some sadness. My almost uncle (my aunt’s longtime boyfriend) passed away at the end of the year. His name was Dick; and he always had a smile on his face. Last summer at a family party in the party room at his apartment building, he was giving my son rides on his mobility scooter that he used to get around on. He was a nice guy. Another child died--that makes 3 in 3 weeks in the Twin Cities— killed by her mother this time. She was drowned in the bathtub . All were African-Americans and nobody is protesting because no cops (white cops in particular) were involved. I'm still waiting for the protest.

I think that the best thing about Facebook is that you can see how boring and shallow most people are. If you knew someone in the past, you can look up their Facebook page. Some people keep it "private" and other people make everything public so the world knows how "great" they are. I like the men who publicize their hunting kills and riding their Harley and all that good "manly" stuff! Then there are the women who post pictures of themselves in bikinis or maybe they show everyone where they traveled and that they studied some other culture. The bottom-line, is, that if someone was self-absorbed and shallow years ago when you knew them, they probably still are—and Facebook gives them a great outlet. Even better, is Twitter ! I mean when you can tell the world that you just now ate a piece of toast or used the bathroom, how "great" is that?

I’ve spent some time over the last few years, working in a very high class building. For the entire 3 years I’ve spent time there, the toilet paper in the bathroom has been held in place by a rubber band . Yesterday the rubber band was broken and on the floor. I’m not sure what kept the toilet paper from falling out of the holder; but I was sure a new rubber band would be coming soon. But, alas, the rubber band was simply repaired; and now the toilet paper is secure once again!

In an effort to "seek justice," protesters organized by Black Lives Matter, defied Mall of America policy against demonstrations (on private property). After stopping business on one of the busiest shopping days of the year; and defying the clearly stated and repeated policy, the group seems to think that they have furthered their cause. This group also recently blocked traffic on I35W ; showing little regard for public safety or for stopping people needing to travel.

In a candid remark, CuTRis has indicated that he was initially unable to hack into Sony Pictures, but found that he could hack into North Korea , and from there he had easy access to Sony. CuTRis , who has his own (low budget) movie about Kim Jong-Un called, "Kim Jong Un is Dumb," also reportedly may have made fun of Kim Jong-Un before ; once or fifteen times. At this time it is unknown if Sony will again succumb to the threats and re- unschedule the movie that CuTRis has apparently rescheduled.

Yesterday I decided to pickup a sandwich from Subway before going to band. When I got to the Subway store, I walked up to the door at the same time as did this young man dressed in U.S. Air Force attire. He reached out and opened the door for me. Once inside, I motioned for him to go ahead of me in line. We both ordered and as he was paying, he told the cashier that he was buying my sandwich too. I protested that he didn't have to do that and I could pay for my own. He insisted and the cashier took his money for both orders. I told him that I appreciated the gesture and he said that he appreciated me letting him go first in line. All I could think is that this was a really nice guy. Maybe there is hope for the future with a few young people like this in the world.

In about 1998, my friend Pete (who is the drummer in our band) had a seizure while driving and had a bad accident. He was in the hospital and then laid up in a nursing home for a long time after. I went to visit him regularly and eventually, he was able to leave and walk out on his own—with the aid of some crutches. Now about this time, I happened to notice a sign outside of a vacuum store in Richfield; that advertised a rebuilt Kirby for $129.95. With Pete’s last name being Kirby, I had this idea… So after Pete was out in the world again, while he was riding with me in my car, I pulled over and told him to stand under that sign. Most of the time, doctors don't really know what's going on when something happens to you. They get together and talk over some possibilities; and then they charge a lot for not knowing. Me and my friend Dave both had a parent in the hospital recently after something unexpected and somewhat scary happened. In both cases, the doctors found nothing. What I mean is, they had no idea what happened or why it happened. Here is an imaginary "consult" me and Dave had during band practice. Hey Dave, why did that guitar string break? I’m not sure Kevin; maybe it got strummed too hard. I think maybe it frombled a bit when you played it Dave—I definitely saw some frombledge. Yeah maybe Kevin, but I see no real reason it broke. A couple of days ago I was really upset to hear about this piece of crap who beat his 1-year-old son to death . If there is any good news, it's that the piece of crap was arrested yesterday. Like I said the other day, I want to know who is going to protest about a grown man killing a baby? Because I know damn well, if any white cop had shot this guy while he resisted arrest, thousands would be marching in protest! Here is something for all of you "so enlightened" people to march about. In fact, the IT department sent us an email about the email not working. I was unable to open it because of the email not working and all. Then the email worked for 12 ½ seconds and the email finally opened and I could read it! Yet another Black man was gunned down in the streets of America! This cowardly murder caused no unrest. It caused no protests. No businesses were burned. Nothing was looted. No sensational news stories were created. No one got on TV and shouted about racism or about excessive violence. Hardly anyone even noticed that another Black man was shot and killed at the hands of an African-American shooter. After-all, this sort of thing happens every day in every large city in America. There is no political gain for anyone to make anything more of it. There is no agenda to push. Yet the body count keeps going up. People keep dying. It is best for us to focus on the high-profile incidents, that can further damage the fragile balance of racial relations within the fabric of society. It is best to forget the number of dead; and focus only on the minor issues that can generate the most hostility and the most political sympathies. Long live the era of bullshit! For weeks I had this cool screensaver . It had a bunch of different kinds of reptiles that would dart back and forth across the screen! Sometimes it was the fast ones. Sometimes a slow turtle might walk by. Other times it would be a snake slithering across the screen. It was a pretty great screen saver! Then the other day it just quit. It didn't work anymore. White cops should never go into black neighborhoods. 911 callers should identify their race before police are sent. If the caller is black, only black cops should respond. If no black cops are available, no police should respond. If the parties involved are of multiple races , an equal proportion of like-race police officers must be assembled before responding to the call for help. While responding, officers will only be allowed to interact with or arrest people who are of the same race as they are.
