Customer Service and Kindness
I call my mom everyday to check on her. So yesterday when I couldn't get a hold of her, and my brother wasn't able to either, I went over there and fortunately she was just fine and surprised to see me. I soon found that her phone wasn't working. In fact, none of them were. So I called CenturyLink and the automated system took me through a big long thing and I finally made an appointment for the next morning. Then, the same system, connected me to a customer service agent somewhere offshore. Then I had to do the same thing over again. It was now rush hour and I wanted to get on the road and get back home to make dinner. But none of this was fast or efficient. I know my sister-in-law used to work customer service for CenturyLink, and then they laid everybody off and now it's all offshore. So today, a technician went over there and he checked everything out and concluded that there was something amiss in their (central) equipment, so he was unable to fix it. When he called me, he apologized, and he said he was not going to get any credit for his work either, because he wasn't able to fix it. Now, my mom felt bad that he spent all that time there, and so she sent him away with a couple of muffins that she had just pulled out of the oven before he left. Even though he said when he escalated the ticket, the fix would probably take a couple of days, he called her back later, and said that her phone was fixed, and indeed he was calling her on her landline. When she asked him how it got done so fast, he laughed and said that the muffins probably helped. How we treat each other, especially when things get frustrating, is very important.

When Small Things are Big
The end of the schoolyear has been stressful for teachers--especially with READ Act. My (art teacher) wife has been studying and testing... So, today when a kindergartener girl brought her flowers, she was so touched by the gesture, that she sent me a picture of the two white clover flowers (she put) in a tiny bud vase. Sometimes it's the little things that matter.

Fluoride Hard Teeth
When I was at the dentist today, they told me everything was good but they recommended a fluoride treatment to keep it that way. They said the fluoride would soak into my teeth and make them hard. I don't believe I ever had a fluoride treatment before, and insurance wouldn't pay for it but I decided to do it anyway because it wasn't that much. My teeth felt weird for a while after they painted the fluoride varnish on them. Later, when the dogs that live behind us started barking at me, I showed my teeth! They all ran away, because they must have recognized how hard my teeth are now.

Rhubarb/Apple Pie
Nobody was eating the fresh rhubarb, so when I saw that graham cracker pie crust at the store, I began to get ideas. I didn't follow a recipe, though I did look at two before I started. The ingredients were, rhubarb, sugar, lemon juice, apples, cinnamon salt, flour, butter. I baked it for one hour at 375 degrees Fahrenheit. I don't bake much, but this pie was good.
Trump Lies Unsustainable
"Expertise," has been purposefully abandoned by the Trump administration, along with intelligence, fairness, benevolence and truth. While there was certainly things within the government in need of reform, that is not the objective, even if the lies say it is. The administration has definitely given us much to think about, but the direction does not appear sustainable in any way. Now, we just need the half who were tricked into believing this garbage to wakeup and stop supporting the insanity.
Donald Trump Plans to Visit Hell
Donald Trump Plans to Visit Hell
UnAssociated Press
May 27, 2025
President Trump is planning to fly his new (old) "Palace in the sky" down to hell for a visit with the dark lord himself.
"I've known him for years," said Trump on so-so media, "we agree on most things and his home is a very warm place."
Of course Trump had a lot more to say, and much of it was incoherent. But apparently, Mr. Trump would like to warehouse legal immigrants in hell, and also potentially U.S. citizens who disagree with him.

We Are Not Okay in America
When I was very young, I know there was still discrimination and prejudice that was tolerated by some and practiced by others. I seemed to recognize over time, that it was getting better and it was starting to go away. But now, when I see the posts of some of the people I grew up with, I realize that some of them were in families where that prejudice and discrimination never went away at all, and they were indoctrinated into believing all of those horrible lies. And now, it still exists inside of them to such an extent, that they support Trump, even as he follows the playbook of other dictators, like a new version of Hitler. Perhaps a significant portion of the population has not progressed like we had hoped they would. It really is time to stand up against injustice, hate, cruelty and greed. It's not too late. But it will take all of our voices. Preaching to your friends is not enough. I know people can hear us. My blog gets about 3K hits per day--and most of that traffic is from outside of the USA. We are not okay with what is happening in America. Those who are, are fools.

Trump Accepts Bribes from Terrorists
Somehow, certain people are still spreading bald-faced lies to try to legitimate Donald Trump. So I just wanted to mention, that his trip to the Middle East has allowed him to meet with people who have supported the murder of Americans and with those who fund Hamas. He has been bribed, and he wants that $400 million airplane from the people (in Qatar) who bankroll Hamas terrorists.

2 out of 3 Candidates have Brain Degeneration
Here's a text exchange with a couple of my friends. My replies are in green. I also think I was able to identify the issue that keeps a lot of people from voting for Kamala--even though she is the only politician named here, who has her full cognitive ability.

Fun with AI and Pope Trivia
This morning when I was eating breakfast with my 9son, I asked Google how many popes there have been. The answer was 267. So I asked how many pope names there have been, and that answer was 44. So, then I asked if there was ever a pope named Jethro. The answer was no. So then I asked if there was ever a pope named Jed, or one named Granny, or one named Elly May, or one named Milburn Drysdale. Each time, the answer was no...

Trump Costanza
Remember on Seinfeld when George decided to start doing exactly the opposite of what he would normally do, and suddenly he was successful? Doing exactly the opposite of what Trump does, would likely have the same affect.

Trump's Alcatraz Idea
Remember how, especially when you were a kid, someone would come up with a "great idea?" Only, when you thought about it, it was the dumbest idea you had ever heard. That's how I felt when I heard that Donald Trump wants to reopen Alcatraz as a prison. We just took the tour in March. The tour is pretty cool, but trying to fix that place up would be ridiculous. It is one of the most visited national park sites in the United States. In order to make it a prison again, the entirety of it would need to be bulldozed over and rebuilt.

Fairy Falls 17th Anniversary Hike
Temperatures were in the 40'sF when my wife and I took our anniversary hike around Fairy Falls in Stillwater, MN. Since the rain had (mostly) stopped, it was perfect hiking weather. It rained on our wedding day, which we were told was "good luck." So, since we got married on a Friday, I asked Google how many Fridays there had been since our wedding. The answer was 3 including the day we got married.

Trump is Mentally Unstable
It’s interesting to analyze how we got to the point of having a dictator and oligarchy in the USA. Donald J. Trump is simultaneously exhibiting authoritarian attributes, and mental instability or possibly age-related mental degeneration. This combined with his crimes against women, underhanded business dealings and a support base of paranoid, racist followers, has created a very dangerous dynamic.
But it wasn’t more than just a few years ago, I lost liberal friends because I would not be as liberal as they demanded me to be. I still supported law enforcement during the George Floyd trauma, though it was tragic that Floyd was killed and some rookie officers were politically sacrificed in the process. I was completely in favor of any form of domestic partnerships having the same rights as marriage—but against calling it “marriage,” when same-sex. Because I knew, many people would be alienated on the more conservative side. Said liberal friends, utilized “cancel culture,” and cited my lack of intelligence for not meeting them on the far left. The friendships, beers and past conversations were left to die over degrees of politics. Even if, often, we were in agreement. One coworker was furious with me because although we were supporting the same candidate, I did not like her as much as he did.
So, I can truly understand how that certain group of people saw diversity initiatives as a threat to fair hiring. Afterall, Joe Biden promised to appoint only a black woman to the supreme court. And then he did it. This was not choosing for merit. It was a choice based on sex and race—which was somehow supposed to correct past wrongs. Two wrongs, don’t make a right. Also, as we look in disgust at the books being banned by conservatives in the attempts to squash diversity equity and inclusion, we should remember that liberals were involved in book bans for classics such as “The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn,” due to concerns about racial insensitivity. The tendency of judging the past via “presentism,” is also sometimes problematic.
Ultimately, the backlash for this unchecked liberalism came in the form of Trump. He promised to right these wrongs. But instead, he has lied about everything. He is supported by racist, opportunistic hypocrites. And now, we are at risk of losing our democracy. The meanness, and blatant disregard for personal freedoms and fair opportunity is appalling. Everything is for sale to the highest bidder. Trump is alienating our closest allies and has our economy teetering on the edge of disaster.
So, liberal friends, we are on the same side. And to my conservative friends, what’s it going to take for you to realize the monster you’ve released on democracy? The firing of those with opposing viewpoints, the defying of court judgements, the fact that a convicted felon is running the country backward at least 150 years… You’ve been had.
Is the economy better? Have prices gone down? What made you vote the man who caused an insurrection because he lost the previous election—back into the White House? Has any of that gotten better? How is laying off government workers and imposing tariffs that stop trade and raise prices helping the economy? We’ve seen a lot of questionable actions by Trump, Musk, DOGE—and potential conflicts of interest in what is cut and who benefits. Human beings have been arrested and deported to foreign prisons by mistake! When is it going to be enough?
So, aside from that group that still thinks Trump has their personal best interest in mind, the majority of people should be moving onto the “same side.” The question is, can you compromise with others, or do you have to insist that everyone believes exactly the same things that you believe? Because it’s okay to disagree. That is where our most valuable ideas emerge—in that middle area.
What I believe is that Donald Trump and all of the people who are supporting his attempt to become the first king of the USA, need to be removed from office and all positions that give them power over anyone. Trump is a mistake. He is not mentally stable. This is bigger than your desire to have things your own way with no compromise. This is about someone telling you he’s making America great, while he is actually destroying the foundations of our democratic government. If you couldn’t see it before, can you see it now? Race is not the problem. Our differences are not a bad thing. Billionaires buying elections and handing out million dollar checks to gain power, is the actual problem. And we need to deal with it before it devours us.
