Juneteenth Rocket

Juneteenth reminds us not only how important freedom is, but also the need for truth and timely information. Thanks to Elon Musk for blowing up one of his rockets to commemorate the holiday!

Turtle Laying Eggs

This turtle has decided to lay eggs in our backyard.   The next morning, I barely could see the nest it was covered so well. By late morning, a squirrel had dug up the nest and stole all the eggs. I despise squirrels.

Happy Father's Day

Happy Father's Day. This year is my first one without my dad. However, I do have a son, and a wife, and my mom... and I am most fortunate. Father's Day is a good time to remember that more important than being a father, is being a good dad. A dad is there for his kids when they need him, and even when they don't. He's ready to help, and spend time, and teach, and even intervene before things go wrong. It's a big responsibility. The fathers who put their families first, are setting an example for future generations, and they have my admiration.

Political Assassinations in Minnesota

Waking up to the news of two Minnesota politicians and their spouses, all Democrats, being shot in the middle of the night by an assassin dressed as a police officer, has me thinking that the assault on democracy is still progressing- even in light of the "no Kings" protests today. Please remain defiant, and be safe. Obviously, things are very volatile right now. For the past few weeks, I've had a steady stream of 1960s protest music playing inside my head with good reason. It is extremely sad that things have progressed to this point. Or perhaps, I should say regressed.

Road Eater

Road construction has arrived on our street. This pavement milling machine was eating the road surface. My wife said she wants one. I'm thinking that's not a good idea.

U.S.A. Dictator

His supporters attack the U.S. Capitol, and he pardons them. People protest his policies and he sends U.S. Marines to stop them. This is a dictator. Stop pretending this is for the good of the people.

Big Beautiful Idiots

When the big beautiful idiot, finally steps on his dick, and when his supporters finally figure out they've fallen for the biggest scam in American history, I want all of his enablers deported to a shit hole country.

Customer Service and Kindness

I call my mom everyday to check on her. So yesterday when I couldn't get a hold of her, and my brother wasn't able to either, I went over there and fortunately she was just fine and surprised to see me. I soon found that her phone wasn't working. In fact, none of them were. So I called CenturyLink and the automated system took me through a big long thing and I finally made an appointment for the next morning. Then, the same system, connected me to a customer service agent somewhere offshore. Then I had to do the same thing over again. It was now rush hour and I wanted to get on the road and get back home to make dinner. But none of this was fast or efficient. I know my sister-in-law used to work customer service for CenturyLink, and then they laid everybody off and now it's all offshore. So today, a technician went over there and he checked everything out and concluded that there was something amiss in their (central) equipment, so he was unable to fix it. When he calle...

When Small Things are Big

The end of the schoolyear has been stressful for teachers--especially with READ Act. My (art teacher) wife has been studying and testing... So, today when a kindergartener girl brought her flowers, she was so touched by the gesture, that she sent me a picture of the two white clover flowers (she put) in a tiny bud vase. Sometimes it's the little things that matter.
