Happy Father's Day to the dads. Being a father is a biological thing, but being a dad is providing love and encouragement to your children. There are dads who aren't fathers, and fathers who never become dads. Being a dad means putting your child's needs before your own. So to all the dads, have a great day, you are appreciated!

Our society, has chosen to "dumb down" to the lowest common denominator; to ensure inclusion. Instead of holding the bar up high to create a better world, we have ensured Americans will be rude, dumb and weak for generations to come. That's why I have to listen to that person talking loudly on the phone, in a public place, dropping the F-bomb every 4th word. That's why police can no longer stop "minor" law breaking. It's why people walk down the street looking in mailboxes and drive down the road tossing garbage out the window. It's why how we teach, speak and interact has changed. It's why people are mean to each other and why entertainment is vulgar, lewd and violent. But at least everyone is striving to become less civilized for a worthy cause.

If a package from Amazon is sent by UPS, the tracking number tells you exactly where it is and when it will arrive. It's very precise. If the package is coming by US Postal Service, the tracking number tells you that the item is somewhere between Albuquerque and Zimbabwe and that it will arrive in 4 to 273 days.

I've been shaving my head for about 17 years now. Periodically, someone will still make jokes about me being bald because our society still thinks bald jokes are okay. So after shaving my head today, I was enjoying how nice it feels, especially in the kind of heat we've been experiencing lately. So if you have never shaved your head, I have to feel a little bit bad for you because there is nothing quite as cool and refreshing in the summer heat. It is right up there with a cold beer and ice cream.

Looking past cancel culture, at the liberal ideas of blaming every social issue on systemic racism, vilifying law enforcement and making heroes of criminals and ignoring the demographics of who is actually shooting the most people--including innocent children, I don't feel that any of this is working or has any hope of success. In fact, the only thing it will likely do, is increase the power of conservatives, who are waging their own battle of distorted reality. I'm still convinced that the answers to the problems are in that gray area in the middle; rather than in the black and white or right and left. But people are too stubborn to think rationally or logically. So here "we" all are--angry, misinformed, misinterpreted and misdirected.

It is possible to disagree with both Republicans and Democrats. It is possible to disagree with liberals and not be a conservative. It is possible to disagree with conservatives without supporting liberals. It is possible to support racial justice and still disagree with the methods of Black Lives Matter. It is possible to support gun control and also the 2nd Amendment. It is possible to disagree with organized religion and still believe in a higher power. It is possible to agree with one point and reject another--and doing so does not automatically mean one supports the opposing view. It is possible to consider each issue individually and base views and opinions on knowledge and logic instead of emotion. Finally, it is also not easy to be independent and reject the pressure to choose sides; while those who consider themselves smarter, who don't know better, attack your centrist position.
