Toothpick

I like it that in our technologically advanced society, you still use a toothpick to see if the banana bread is done. Shouldn't there be some kind of an electronic, computerized gadget that you connect to the bread to get a reading out on the scope?

Grayson Learns About COVID-19

Late in October, I shared that my annual book for my son was blocked by Amazon because they decided to block publishing anything about COVID-19.

Now, just in time for Christmas, I want to share that "Grayson Learns About COVID-19," is available through Barnes and Noble.

Unforeseen circumstances may slow things down, but there's usually a way to succeed if you keep trying.

3 Ways to See

There are some serious issues to deal with. Some people focus on the part that they can accept, and then keep ramming into the half they deny. Others deny the whole thing. Only a few have the courage to address the entire situation. These are the folks who most people hope will shut up.

COVID-19 and Politics

As amazing as it sounds, COVID-19 seems to be a political disease. Many conservatives do not recognize it as a threat. Many people who lean to the right, are also unable to use masks and social distance. Even after becoming infected, some still can't recognize the seriousness of the pandemic. It is truly heartbreaking that this virus can prevent higher thinking in some individuals.

New Tools for Police?

Almost certainly there is a connection between rising crime and pressure on police. While a few high-profile incidents have fueled this, the response has been largely political, ineffective and unrealistic. Defunding the police, is not going to be conducive to reducing crime. The majority of law enforcement officers are good people who have been given a certain set of tools in order to do their jobs. Some of these tools are used for deadly force. If the public does not want police to use these methods, then realistic effective tools need to be given to officers to do their jobs. If someone is spitting on officers, and you don't want a bag put over the person's head, then a realistic alternative needs to be presented. If you don't want officers to shoot people who are acting violently, then realistic, effective alternatives need to be put into the available tools that officers can utilize. So far, this does not seem to be happening. Law enforcement officers are being asked to prevent crime, without using force. It is no wonder that there is a problem in recruiting and retaining police officers.

Ice and Sunlight

I took these photos today. The sunlight on the ice was dazzling!

Trump Proving Lack of Character

The job of the president of the United States of America, is to work for the people. It is not the other way around. Becoming president does not put you above the law. It does not give you the right to undermine peaceful transition of power. It should not be the president's goal to undermine the election system. The system was put in place to prevent a dictatorship. There is no proof of fraud, except maybe for Trump and his loyalists. The longer this goes on, the more damage it causes and it certainly cannot end well. Sometimes people have to do things not because it's best for themselves, but because it is the best thing for everyone else. It is that type of selfless character that we want in our top leaders. The temper tantrum speaks volumes about the (lack of) character.

Biden Transition

Among the first things that the Biden transition team is planning to do once they gain access, is to fumigate the White House. Apparently it stinks like an ass.

Microwaved Squash

Tonight's Vegetable was an acorn squash, filled with good stuff and microwaved for 10 minutes.

the trump locked in the bathroom

"Hello 911? One of the guests has locked himself in the bathroom and won't leave. Yes... I know we're not supposed to have parties right now. Yes I know covid-19 is devastating the country. His name? I think it is Kim Jong-trump. No, he's not alone. I know for a fact that Rudy is in there with him. Is there some way that we can get him out of there? I think he's clogged the toilet..."

Charles Curtis

Charles Curtis, a member of the Kaw Nation who grew up in Kansas, became Herbert Hoover's vice president in the 1928 presidential election, the first and only Native American to hold the nation's second-highest office.

Damage

I watched President Trump's speech earlier tonight and I'm still trying to process what I was hearing. I'm still reeling from the amount of damage that was done in that short time. I don't believe I heard a single grain of truth. I'm horrified to think that when thousands have given their lives for this nation, someone in that position could stand before the world and spread those lies. I ask everyone not to post and repost garbage. It just fuels this dumpster fire. This shit show of an election is absolutely not what we need right now during a pandemic and social unrest. Everyone needs to take a breath and process. The amount of misinformation is staggering. Our elections and election process, until now, has been the envy of the world. -KJC
