It was great to stop by the Climate Change Protest at the Capitol today! But I couldn't stay very long. I had to leave the protest in the capable hands of the people who don't work. The signs were great! In fact I haven't seen that many cardboard signs since that panhandler convention a few years back. When he woke up in the morning and checked the news, there had only been one shooting overnight that was hardly anything! Yet, after all of the shootings every day and every night, the neighbors were getting upset. But why now? There had been only one shooting!!! I mean, that is hardly anything right? Now if there had been 147,496 shootings then there might be something to get upset about!!! In the environment I'm familiar with, Sophos tracks all browsers relentlessly except for Chrome. It is very lenient with Chrome, but tracks where the user goes from all other browsers and then assigns a label, often rather recklessly to the sites that it deems unauthorized or problematic. I'm not sure if it was set up this way, or if it comes this way out of the box.

After seeing Sophos for three months I can tell you that in my opinion it fails. There are false positives, and it sits in the background and prevents things from working even by an administrator. I cannot recommend this antivirus software. Perhaps worst of all, is that it is not upfront about messing with your programs. It sits in the background and behaves like malware.

Minnehaha Creek to be Renamed to Schitt Creek UnAssociated Press August 22, 2019 The Department of Renaming Things has decided to rename Minnehaha Creek because the name is offensive to three people from Outer Slobovia. Further research indicates that Minnehaha Creek was discovered by the Schitt family over 12,000 years ago—before the Paleoindians migrated across the Bering Land Bridge . Therefore Minnehaha Creek will be renamed Schitt Creek , in honor of Jedidiah Schitt and all of the other Schitts; sometime next week. In addition, all of the surrounding streets that are currently named after Minnehaha (such as Minnehaha Pkwy), will be named "Schitt" as well. All of the signs below and all of the signs that are located up Schitt Creek will be changed.

Is it a real concern, or is it just my conservative side... because I wonder when the neighbor who is a school psychologist decides he's going to change from being a man into a woman, is he still a good choice to be counseling our children? I just have to wonder if the person who is counseling the children can't figure out their own life, can they really be helpful to people who are starting out?

What does that say about our society if a guy can't have a colonoscopy without the people where he works complaining that he isn't fixing their stuff fast enough?

Dear President Trump, You should have seen how hard those Mexican men worked installing our new carpet. A few years ago, another crew of Mexican men worked really hard to install our new roof. Americans gathered today to mourn the tragic loss of life after two mass shootings over the weekend.

Sometimes distorted facts are more destructive than outright lying. There is no Magic Bullet. There is no pill to solve all your ailments. Sometimes if you want clean, you have to get out the vacuum.

CuTRis Pushes Storm UnAssociated Press July 24, 2019 Reports early today indicate that CuTRis may have pushed a storm that was moving into the Twin Cities . The storm is now planning to sue CuTRis for unlawfully preventing it from randomly destroying property. There is a protest planned for later today at the state capitol. When CuTRis was asked about the allegations against him, he pushed a TV camera and disappeared down a storm drain. No further information is available about the storm, the lawsuit or CuTRis at this time.

This is an interesting and scenic place. It has a lot of steep cliffs and deep water so keep an eye on the kids. Swimming and trout fishing top the list of activities. Health Partners and Health Partners Clinic is charging me for two clinic visits for a 20 minute preventative (supposed to be covered by insurance) appointment because the doctor talked to me about lowering blood pressure. How can they bill for two visits for a single appointment??? What other business can get away with this? Update: Just 6 hours into my publicizing this all over social media, Health Partners (after first calling to say the charge was legitimate) just called to tell me the charges had been recoded and removed from my account.

Our country is fixated on race when the problem of discrimination is much deeper than that. It's a great attribute of humanity to be able to discriminate between right and wrong, hot and cold. It's a serious shortcoming to treat those who differ from us poorly. Humans have a long history of doing mean things to others who they perceive as different. The color of one's skin stands out and is an easy focal point for those who are not particularly intelligent. But if that difference doesn't exist, the lines will fall between ethnicity or country of origin. If everyone came from the same place, that small, timid kid is likely to get picked on. I was trying to get out of downtown. My usual way out on Eagle Street was full of cars! Maybe there was a train I don't know. Anyway I went around the block. And then I was trying to figure out where I had to turn so that I could bypass. Then I saw my answer! It was like an epiphany! Follow the mobile toilet!

It is always amazing to see  Split Rock Lighthouse even though I have visited it several times. This time it was clear and windy. Last time it was raining and windy.

If you are in Grand Marias , Make sure to visit Artists' Point , and eat at  Dockside Fish Market for fish and chips.

High Falls is accessible from the last rest area before you reach Ontario. It is just a short drive past Grand Portage . It is a half mile hike to the falls but the view is worth the effort. Make sure to visit Grand Portage National Monument !

Our trip up the  Gunflint Trail began with our 3-night stay at the Diamond Willow cabin at  Heston's Lodge ; where we could see Canada across Gunflint Lake. For cabin and boat rental, Heston's is a great choice. The view of Seagull Lake (at the end of the trail) from the rock cliffs is fantastic! If you are hungry, try the Trail's End Cafe . If you are lucky, you can often see some wildlife.

Yesterday, as we all remembered the heroic men, thousands who died in a battle that changed history, I was also remembering a childhood friend who took his own life in June of 1977 when we were still children; and so I am a day behind in my post remembering the event of D-Day 75 years ago. We have very few of the men who fought in WWII left with us today. If you have had the good fortune to know any of these men, as I have , you will forever be changed.
