Hoffman Refrigeration & Heating in Stillwater MN

I just sent this email to the co-owner/sales manager at Hoffman Refrigeration & Heating in Stillwater MN. Dennis, A year ago I spent over $7,000 on a new furnace and AC. We had it checked on 7/31/2013 for $68. Less than a week later a coupon for the same service came in the mail for $48. I called 8/6/2013 to see if we could get a credit or refund for the $20. I was told the person who workes in the office would contact me when she returned (this week). I called a few minutes ago and was told I couldn't get the coupon deal. I responded that maybe I need to go somewhere else next time. The response from the Hoffman guy was "you do that." Last summer Andy assured me I was getting the best equipment and the best service. He was so convincing I went with Hoffman over a cheaper estimate. Is this how you treat your customers after the big sale? After all I spent now you guys pull this? So $20 is worth losing a customer over? I would have been happy with a $20 credit...

Buying a Water Heater

Periodically I review a business that I've had dealings with; sometimes it is positive, but often it is not. With the Internet, companies should be careful how they treat their customers--as word can get out. I've found that many companies will try to "make things right" if you contact the right person. Before I write a negative review, I always give the company the opportunity to "make it right," and so avoid being shown in a negative light in my blog. Some will do so, and some will not. I was pricing water heaters on Monday. Ours is old and needs to be replaced. Roto-Rooter came over and gave a free estimate of $1253.74. I've priced water heaters and they run around $400. I thanked the technician and said I would let him know. I saw an ad in the phone book for Soderlin Plumbing and Heating . I was attracted to the ad because it said they had flat rate pricing. Anyone who has done business with one of these contractors may know that the price ...

Did St. Paul Plumbing & Heating Tell the Truth?

We replaced our furnace and air conditioner on the word of St. Paul Plumbing & Heating . Somehow after talking on the phone with the guy I had the impression that the heat exchanger was cracked. The written work order says, "Dirty Blower Wheel, Blower Motor Leaking oil, Capacitor weak, Heat exchanger Rusty & Very stressed." I've included photos my wife took of the heat exchanger when this furnace was removed. If anyone knows about these things, maybe you can tell me if it looks rusty and very stressed. 8/30/2012 - Wayne from St. Paul Plumbing & Heating has asked to see more pictures of the heat exchanger so he can point out the rust. I've informed him that I've already put the rustiest pictures on this blog and told him that he can refund the $89 for the 'tune-up' (when we were told the furnace was beyond repair). Since he originally threatened legal action against me if I put untrue statements on my blog, I've invi...
