As regrettable as it is that young black men have been in the news for being shot by police, the likelihood of a young black man dying at the hands of another young black man is far higher. This should be considered by those who say a disproportionate amount of African-Americans are arrested as opposed to whites. If the implication is that more white people should be arrested to even up the percentages, that is asinine. Arrests should be based on crime and not color. We already are supposed to mark our race on job applications before we are hired. Do we need to do the same before a police officer can decide if it is okay to arrest us?
