The Great Political Divide of 2020

I understand the conservative point of view. You are concerned that your guns will be taken away. That will not happen. But perhaps guns should have titles like automobiles. I also understand, that Black Lives Matter is not being completely truthful. That organization is only concerned with black deaths at the hands of police officers; and seems unconcerned with any other black, violent deaths. Furthermore, their agenda seems to be to dismantle law enforcement. As the shootings increase, we can see the deadly results. If you know, as I do, that we need law enforcement, this is very concerning. Issues regarding reproduction and choice, seem to me that they are private rather than political issues. But I also see your argument if you are particularly religious in that respect. But America is the land of the free and religious and personal freedom is part of that.

I understand the liberal point of view. You are concerned with equality, as am I. Living in a bi-racial, multicultural family, I have significant stock in this issue. I am also quite concerned, that it seems we are as close to having a dictatorship in the United States of America, as we have ever been since the American Revolution. We currently have a leader, who is mirroring in many ways, that of the Nazi regime that nearly took over the world during World War II. Furthermore, the current President has already condemned our carefully monitored election process, and calls it unreliable and tampered with. All of this in preparation in case he does not win. Also while failing to condemn white supremacists and hate groups.

So in the year 2020, with heightened racial discord, the covid-19 pandemic, the struggling economy and unemployment, it is now up to the American people to unite. I understand and I see the great divide in our country. But it is during these times, when we must see the false prophets not only on the other side, but also on the side we align ourselves with as well. We must reach across the divide to our brothers and sisters and band together so that we do not suffer the same fate as other great nations (throughout history) have at times like this. We must create a kinder, gentler nation for not only the rich, but also for the poor, and for those in the middleclass who do the work and pay the bulk of the taxes to fund this great democracy. We must recognize that not everyone who disagrees with us is an enemy.

Education, opportunities, and strong families that include nurturing fathers, are necessary for our children to succeed. It is not just about systemic racism, or entitlement. It is about buying into those ideals of a good education, supportive family and personal responsibility. It is not about blaming all of your problems on someone else, like the police, or racism. It is about what each one of us can, and is willing to do, so that we don't become the next fascist, or communist country. The USA is vulnerable because our people cannot agree about nearly anything right now. And like the balance of power in World War II, this presidential election holds the key to what our country, and our world, will become. We owe it to our children to make the right choices.
