The news has been interesting lately, especially in light of current politics. I think that Luigi Mangione could run for president and have the charges dropped if he wins because that's how it works now. When poor people get shot, no one cares too much. If the super rich get shot, will guns become an issue?

Fox News, famous for its $787 Million settlement for publicly lying about the 2020 Presidential election, seems to be the only place that Donald Trump will feel safe enough to debate Kamala Harris . One needs only to look at Fox News , to realize that it has less credibility than The Onion . But likely, anyone who believes (or chooses to support) Trump's lame allegations that this or that thing is, "the worst ever in history," or the "best ever in history," won’t probably realize (or choose to realize) that Trump (and probably them too) need to study history , and use a source that didn’t have to settle for $787 Million to avoid a trial for lying.

The legal system doesn't really dislike brown people, as long as they have money. It's poor people that society doesn't like. Now that said, the conservatives like it that way. And the liberals want to give money paid by middle-class taxpayers to poor people who don't pay taxes. None of this makes sense, unless you're rich and looking down and laughing at the people who are just trying to live good lives and get along. And that, along with not being a millionaire makes me unfit to be President. But, I figure I might be over qualified anyway. Being moderate and able to see multiple sides is not something our politicians are generally very good at.

While some people have skillfully orchestrated a war between the races, the real issue is between the extreme rich and the poor. Conservatives and rednecks who are more like the minorities they've been taught to hate than they are like the rich guy who they believe will save them. People of color who liberals have convinced are unable to better themselves and need not even try. Meanwhile, all of our politicians are wealthy and one former president has top secret documents in his possession. Any of the rest of us would be staring through jail bars, but the filthy (and I mean filthy) rich hire lawyers to manipulate the law on their behalf. But few see through the smoke, because their own agenda is a small view. They are out for themselves and unconcerned about anyone else.

Sometimes when I'm sitting on my patio grilling dinner and having a beer, I can almost forget that the United States Supreme Court does not represent My Views. I can almost forget the two party system is broken. I can almost forget that there is a war across the world that could turn into world war three. I can almost forget that we aren't still in a pandemic even though everyone seems to act like it's over. I can almost forget that the United States almost became another authoritarian dictatorship. I keep hearing snippets about Republicans who are condemning interracial marriage ; which is something my wife and I have a stake in. So first, I’d like to point out that once we achieve a racial mix like, say, Cuba, with lots of mixed families and mixed people, it will be a whole lot harder to judge others based on their race. Because let’s face it, the liberal method of forcing equality doesn’t work very well. Interracial families are created by choice and by love, so that’s why it works. And finally, what will Clarence Thomas and Mitch McConnell do if their marriages are made illegal? Likely this will be more about “pick and choose” politics—like how unborn children should have more rights than their mothers; or how living children can become living targets for people whose rights to possess and carry deadly weapons needs to be protected.

The most fascinating thing about the January 6 Hearings, is not the bullying and deceit. Most reasonable people already knew that was happening. The true revelation is that the USA was well on its way to having an authoritarian dictator who would break laws and abuse trust to stay in power. This is also how Putin and others have remained in power. But the truly heartbreaking fact is, that regardless of the truth coming out, there are still legions of followers who will willingly follow Trump to hell. This should scare anyone, regardless of your opinions on issues or whether you tend to be liberal or conservative. Living under an authoritarian ruler is not something anyone should want.

I see a flaw in a political position that protects the rights of the unborn, and simultaneously promotes guns while gun violence destroys the living. I find it ironic that the same political views that say they promote freedom, are simultaneously working to restrict personal choices of health and lifestyle. The reason the truth is being altered, is because the arguments simply aren't logical on their own merit.

I was reading some speculation that if the abortion rights gets overturned, that we should be ready for other things like interracial marriage (and gay marriage) to potentially follow suit. So if interracial marriage rights were repealed, would that mean that me and my wife are not married anymore? It seems a bit unlikely; but so did the Capitol insurrection--until it happened... It might be, that there are more important issues to consider in the upcoming elections than just making sure that you can fill your house with guns and walk around with one hanging under your armpit.

Months ago I emailed the directors of the Minnesota Historical Society, cautioning them about calling the unfortunate death of George Floyd a "murder," before the accused has been tried and convicted in a court of law. We all saw the video and have our opinions, but our constitution guarantees an unbiased trial. As a native Minnesotan, who has ties to MNHS, I am disappointed that politics have been placed above the law in public comments. For me, it undermines the relevance of the historical value. Murder, may or may not be proven. We do know factually, that a man died while another kneeled on his neck. None of us can truly know the motive. Again, I caution MNHS to stick to facts and leave law and politics to the proper authorities. Regardless of the color of those involved, fact must be held above emotions. Justice for everyone will never happen if individuals are allowed to pick when the law applies and whether it doesn't. In these politically charged situations, it is...
