Nothing

And when That person Who was supposed to love you, Slices through Your Soul, You look down And see your heart Falling from your chest, As it lands with a plop, In a bloody mass At your feet. You watch, As it still beats slowly, Slower, And finally it stops. And you know Nothing will ever Be the same. -KJC

Moody Bleu

That street, to the corpse's tomb. Watch night fade from light to gloom. Backpacking people go back to the tent. Working all day to pay off the rent. Wrestlers wrestle two as if one. Lone wolf howls for loss and has won. New Moon picks up and shines for the Sun. High school seniors want to have fun. Hot-hearted actor is on tonight. Improves the mood and moves stage right. Gray is red and snow is white. But we decide what evil to fight. And which is a delusion.

The Reentry

The quiet of the morning The trauma in the mind The storm without warning I search but do not find The grass has gotten greener Life has complicated The world has gotten meaner As I anticipated I run for the cover Of a piece of wilderness My refuge to recover From the things I sorely miss I emerge from that cocoon With new resolve and shtick I howl up at the Moon And pull off an ugly tick -Kevin J Curtis 20220513

The Long Month

When A Month is Too Long A month passes in the blink of an eye Unless someone you love is going to die When life continues, And “better” has gone, When “the same” is as good as it gets. From night until dawn Decisions are made, Second guesses spawn. And you can only scream and cry Because the month lasts so long, When they’re waiting to die. -Kevin J. Curtis 20220510

45-Second, Free Verse Poem (It's so good!)

The free verse poetry was so emotional and so deep, oh so deep, deep, deep, like a well that goes through the Earth all the way to China. There was no rhythm, there was no rhyme, there was no format or form of any kind. But the deep, deep, mess of the free verse poetry, the drivel and the endless dribble of words reaching deeper and deeper into my heart until I wanted to cry out! “I can't stand this it's such a bunch of crap!” Yes, I have trouble with free verse poetry; and abstract art. Shall I paint my butt and then sit on the canvas many times to create a wonderful painting? Shall I reach for the deep, deep, words so deep like an ocean that goes all the way to the bottom and maybe even deeper? It's so damn dumb I can't quite understand why people pretend it's so great. But I guess it is. It must be great. Everyone wins! There are no losers! The words are so deep! -KJC

Rain

Raindrops slow and steady Remind me to be ready Water soaks in the ground Tears can fall without a sound Why must it be so hard? Like broken glass, a cutting shard When the night moves slowly in My dreams are sad and from within The daylight breaks in new light I dry the tears I cried all night Today I make another stand Like burning flesh I leave my brand 20140424 — Kevin J. What Said Said

I asked Said what he had to say. He said screw you! then he ran away! If I said what Said said, They'd all want me dead. But no one is mad that Said said what he said! So hear what I say, and take this as warning, You can't say what Said said, in evening or morning. The thing to remember I said once or twice, To say what Said said, wouldn't be nice. —KJC
